Apple household invaded: Daddy got a Kindle Touch

When the iPad came out I was firm that my husband WAS NOT getting one. So he bought us each one because he is a smart man and a bit of a gambler. When he sold his iPad earlier this year I was very confused. When he bought a Kindle I was a little sad. But now he reads more than I’ve ever seen him read. There’s something different about it.

Actual food? Nope. Not here.

The next thing I know it’s January and I’ve moved to 30 hours per week. The original schedule already felt like full time anyway, so why not bump it up a little and make some extra cash?

That’s all well and good on paper. It’s the day-to-day living that I’m struggling with. You know, the stuff like cooking supper, bathing my child, bathing myself, doing laundry, doing anything after 5:00 p.m., etc.

There is a recurring topic of conversation in my life right now among my women (the women with whom I surround myself on a regular basis). It seems the topic of value keeps coming up. Maybe this is because I know a lot of women who are entrepreneurs, freelancers and small business owners. There are plenty of us who undervalue ourselves on a regular basis. I’m just as guilty as the next girl on occasion, but I’m better about it every day.

Feelings of hopelessness have haunted me for these three years. I’ve felt like we would live with this thirty minute drive through a ridiculous speed-trap town and long cow pastures forever. The feelings of hopelessness were occasionally relieved by overwhelming feelings of guilt for feeling hopeless when at least I have a roof over my head, two cars, a handsome husband and a spirited, beautiful daughter.
