Sleepyhead-proofing my workout (30/30/30: 17)

Getting up at the A$% crack of dawn isn’t easy. The jarring feeling of the alarm clock going off at 5:00 a.m. makes my skin crawl. We’re so into sleep around here, that our alarm clock is in an entirely different room so that someone has to get up out of bed to go turn it off. The idea is that since the alarm clock is so close to the coffee pot, once we are up we will stay up and have a cup of coffee or tea instead of hitting the snooze button and crawling back into bed for another 10 minutes of bliss.

Swimming in variety (30/30/30: 16)

One important part of my 30/30/30 fitness goal has been to mix it up. And by “mix it up” I do not mean walk, elliptical, Pilates, repeat. This is what usually happens: I get stuck in the familiar cycle, get bored, give up and stay less-than-fit.

Yes, I have done my fair share of Pilates, elliptical workouts and walking this month, but I’ve also done some “running” (you know why it’s in quotes), a little yoga and today I swam.

Preserving SAHM friendships (30/30/30: 11)

One very difficult part of going back to work has been the separation from my stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) friends.

Conquering my “Yeah, but” objections (30/30/30: 7)

yeah but fitness objections

30/30/30 is a fitness goal I’ve set for myself in which I will complete thirty 30-minute workouts in thirty days. Of course, a 1-hour workout counts as two workouts. This is my goal and I’ll make up the rules as I go.

After two days of being sick with some sort of chest cold/pneumonia/flu (I exagerate at will because this is my blog and I can) and not working out at all I carried myself to the gym tonight.

Day 1 of 30/30/30

30/30/30 is a fitness goal I’ve set for myself for the month of February. My hope is to complete 30 thirty-minute workouts in 30 days. Technically it isn’t February yet, but I decided to get a jumpstart on this goal. Why wait, right?

The cure for resentment: A simple prayer

digital heart mashup

I have the secret and it’s worked every time I’ve had a resentment. Trust me, I have far fewer these days (remember, just the one that I can think of) than I used to. Six years ago I couldn’t have listed on one sheet of paper all of the resentments I carried around.

You know what? Those people that I resented didn’t change. I did. My perspective changed and so did my life.

Forcing a fitness habit: 30/30/30

I’ve been flirting with getting in shape for well over a year now and it’s time to take some serious action to make this a true lifestyle habit. So for February I have made the goal to complete 30 thirty minute workouts in thirty days. Y’all know I don’t have the best track record with consistently blogging a project. Remember when I was going to post one picture every day for a year? That lasted something like a record-breaking 8 days.

Meetup.com play date at Jennifer's

For those of you who saw my post last week about meeting people in real life that you originally met online. Here is a video that may actually be from that very first play date.

I should shower

i haven't showered today

I should shower, but I’m not going to. Although, a case could be made for the sake of my hair. It looks like a grease bomb went off and the evidence is dripping from my scalp outwards. Your welcome for that visual.

Apple household invaded: Daddy got a Kindle Touch

Steve @scratic sitting outside mid-january reading

When the iPad came out I was firm that my husband WAS NOT getting one. So he bought us each one because he is a smart man and a bit of a gambler. When he sold his iPad earlier this year I was very confused. When he bought a Kindle I was a little sad. But now he reads more than I’ve ever seen him read. There’s something different about it.
